Karen kicked off her General Election campaign at The Collectic Home Store on Bee Caves Road with a well-attended fundraiser on May 21.
In 1976 Jane Norwood (here with Karen in the picture at right) attended a fund raising party for Ann Richards who was running for a seat on the Travis County Commission. To raise money, Ann personally auctioned a number of items from her home, including the silver platter that Jane has now passed on to Karen for her campaign. Jane said, “Ann won that race in 1976. Ann was the ultimate role model for women who care about politics. I like to think that she would be pleased to see her platter still working to support another strong woman candidate.”The platter and Ann's charisma still work, fetching a nice contribution at auction to Karen's campaign at the Collectic Home event.
