Taking a Stand to Protect Our Quality of Life

Take On Our Traffic Problems, Without Tolling Existing Roads – Pursue alternative methods for funding road construction and promote development of mass transit and mobility solutions to relieve congestion. Aggressively search for ways to improve highway safety.  Work with the communities to arrive at solutions that work for them as well as those transiting through their neighborhoods.                                                                     ....MORE ON AREA TRANSIT
Demand Responsible Growth – Ensure aggressive enforcement of current planning regulations and develop a new plan for shaping responsible and sustainable growth in our community.  Fix the broken “grandfathering” policy that currently is allowing subdivision plats to be placed on large parcels of land and “grandfathering” them from compliance with future responsible growth regulations.  Realizing profits in real estate and doing it in a way that preserves our natural resources and future economic vitality are not mutually exclusive pursuits.

Convince Developers & Homebuilders To Do Their Fair Share – Large-scale developers and homebuilders in our community must share in the responsibility for the infrastructure required to service their projects. This includes providing for schools, roads, and emergency services--like fire protection and law enforcement, rather than pushing the bill onto current taxpayers.  Other high-growth states look to developers for this sort of fairness…and Texas should, too.                                                                        ....MORE ON DEVELOPMENT

Protect Our Water and Natural Resources Fight for the enforcement and expansion of water quality standards that will keep our water clean and ensure a sustainable supply for the future. Push for a Groundwater District to protect water availability for those whose sole source of water is well water.  Work to increase open space and preserve our lakes and the scenic views that help drive the economic attraction to this area.                       ....MORE ON WATER

Fight For Neighborhoods – Do more to protect current homes and neighborhoods from the consequences of accelerated growth.  Provide more avenues for neighborhoods and communities to participate in decisions that impact them.

Keep The Community Safe – Ensure that necessary law enforcement, fire protection, and emergency medical services are available to sustain effective countywide protection.  Work to control the costs of these services through maximizing the countywide efficiency of these agencies. Promote citizen awareness of the threat of a major wildfire in Precinct 3 and increase preparedness to deal with such a catastrophe.

Pursue Regional Planning – Develop regional solutions with other public and private entities and adjacent counties.  Problems like traffic congestion or water quality and water availability cannot be effectively resolved in a vacuum.  Surrounding counties are also experiencing rapid growth; working with them to coordinate local planning and legislative initiatives to achieve responsible growth is a must.

Deliver Good Government – Work to reduce the costs of unrestrained growth that are currently being passed on to taxpayers.  Work to address future needs in fiscally responsible ways, recognizing that procrastination in decision-making on key issues -- such as mobility solutions -- only increases the future costs to taxpayers.  Listen to constituents and be a guardian over taxpayer money to ensure that the citizens of Precinct 3 are receiving the best return on their investment.                                                                        ....MORE ON TAXES
